The Storybooks For Healing Program consists of two steps:
Step 1. Community Grief Reflection
Together in a small, safe support group, over eight weeks, SFH participants discover, write and discuss their loss journey. Although each person has a unique circumstance of loss, collectively the group grieves and understands. The group is led by a professional grievance specialist using the SFH Facilitator’s Guide which provides complementary writing experiential to the participant’s Grief Reflection Workbook.
Step 2. Sharing with a Larger Audience
Once the difficult work of Grief Reflection is completed, participants are encouraged to create a special tribute storybook to share with family and friends. The Storybooks For Healing Publishing Center – MyStorybookPublisher.com – is the second step of the two-part bereavement program. Here the best stories are preserved and shared in a way to assure their loved one is never forgotten. The Publishing Center is available to anyone wishing to create a beautiful hardbound custom book to commemorate their loved one and does not require attending Storybooks for Healing.
Participants may also choose to share their own personal stories that have come from the grief journey itself on the SFH website, where their lessons learned become an outreach to others in similar circumstances. For many, this step is important to give a sense of purpose to their loss by helping others.
